Root Resorption Flashcards
What is the Lindskog classification of root resorption?
1) Trauma induced (non-infective)
- > Surface/ Transient apical internal/ Pressure/ orthodontic/ replacement
2) INfective
- > internal inflammatory/ external inflammatory/ communicating internal-external
3) Hyperplastic
- > Invasive internal (replacement)
- > Invasive coronal
- > Invasive cervical
What is the Andreaseen classification of root resorption?
1) Internal
- > Inflammmatory
- > Replacement
2) EXternal
- > Surface
- > INflammatory
- > Replacement
How should replanted teeth be managed?
Splinted for 7- 10 days
If closed apex:
-> Commence endodontic treatment asap. If patient compliant, carry out pulppotomy annd place ledermix into canals.
-> CaOH after about 7-10 days (early placement can damage periodontal cells and impair healing)
If open apex:
-> wait for revascularisation
How does ledermix control inflammatory root resorption?
May inactivate dentinoclasts
Can be used to treat extrenal inflammatory rooot resorption.
Basically treat for 3 months using Ledermix changing every 6 weeks
