Q

How does transient apical breakdown normally appear radiographically?

A

Radiolucency at apex of teeth with some apical internal rsorption causing the apices to open up (at about 1 year).
Followed by gradual closing of the apices with calcification of the canals (2 years)
Closing of the canals (3 yrs)
At 5 years, the tooth normally returns to normal but with narrowed canals

Q

Why do some endoodntist advice agaisnt the placement of a permanent root filling during orhtodontic treatment?

A

Orthodontic treatment can cause apical root resorption resulting in some root filling material protruding from the apex. It is suggested that CaOH be placed until ortho tx complete
