A

buildings utilize roman barrel and groin vaults and are very similar stylistically, however they are made of cut stone and not concrete.

A

people traveled from all over the world to be closer to these holy objects. In a way, being closer to the relic means being closer to who the relic represented and what they taught/stood for.

A

naves, aisles, and transepts were longer and wider and there were additional chapels and second story galleries (tribunes). People traveled for sometimes over a year to reach these holy sites to be healed or receive a remission of their sins. Also, relics become really important.
