What do we learn about these cultures from the small portable objects that they created?
We learn that these cultures had influence from the Byzantine culture, both having similar small icons to carry around and be constantly reminded of christianity
What is the importance of monastic order?
Monastic order is how monks would live together. They didn’t live in the same communities at first, but eventually came together to worship
What are the basic elements to monastic life and architecture?
There is a church and a cloister, which is a place for monks and nuns to retreat to; schools of the middle ages; Benedict established order and code of monasteries
