RNAV and RNP Ops Flashcards
What needs to be confirmed in the flight planning phase for RNAV1 & RNAV2 operations?
1) Necessary nav aids (including critical DME’s) are serviceable for the planned route.2) When critical DME’s are uncervicable confirm DME GAP within 14nm, if not RNAV1,2 operations are prohibited.3) The letter ‘R’ is placed in block 10 of the flight plan and D1 placed in block 18 after PBN in case of RNAV1 operations & C1 in case of RNAV2 operations.OM 4-S-13
What needs to be confirmed in the SID specific requirements for RNAV1/2?
RWY, SID & transition route-Waypoint sequence-Reasonableness of track angles & distances-Altitude & speed restriction-Direction of turn at waypoint which is fly by or fly over.4-S-13
What needs to be confirmed before take-off on an RNAV1/2 SID?
-Check all required on board equipment is available(FDIG- FMC, DME, IRS, GPS)-Check the position is updated by GPS on PROG pg 2/2 (If PF ask PM to check)4-S-13
If GPS is not available what must be confirmed before take off for RNAV1/2 SID?
-Confirm airplane position is updated at the RWY threshold. (Update performed by pushing N1)-In case of intersection take-off, enter the shift distance to the intersection point (not needed when intersection point is within 1000ft FM threshold.4-S-14
After Take-Off phase (SID & En-route specific requirements)?
RNAV 1 routes- Autopilot or FD in LNAVRNAV 2 routes- Autopilot or FD in LNAV however ND may be used.If critical DME (DME GAP more than 14nm) has become unserviceable during the flight the crew should notify ATC and request vectors.4-S-14
Before Approach phase (STAR specific requirements) RNAV1/2?
RNAV1- A/P or FD in LNAV/NAV modeRNAV2- A/P or FD in LNAV/NAV mode however ND may be used.Check the STAR & RWY are set in system, check;-Waypoint sequence-Reasonableness of track angles & distances-Altitude & speed restriction-Direction of turn at waypoint which is fly by or fly over.If critical DME (gap more than 14nm) becomes unserviceable notify ATC immediately and request radar vectors.4-S-14
What is the required on-board equipment for RNAV1/2?
FDIG!FMCDMEIRSGPS (Only required when flying the route where GPS is required)

Flight planning stage RNAV10 (RNP10) operations?
Captain & Flight dispatcher shall confirm;-A/C approval for RNAV10 (RNP10) operations, allowable flight time & route eligibility.-‘R’ placed in block 10 of ATS flight plan and ‘A1’ placed in block 18 after PBN.4-S-19
Before entering RNAV10 (RNP10) airspace?
-Confirm on board equipment for operations is operative. (If equip fail notify ATC & follow instructions).-When position updating is required due to allowable flight time limit, confirm that navigation equipment shall be updated by appropriate nav aids within its coverage.4-S-19
