AIM-J JOHANNES Flashcards

Q

131 – ILS:

A

LOC – Between full ‘fly left’ and full ‘fly right’, LOC signal adjusted to cover 700’ (210m) of width over the T/H

G/S – Equipment adjusted for the descent angle of 2.5-3.5° (CAT 1) and 2.5-3.0° (CAT II/III); installed to the side of the runway (off C/L), therefore complete guidance to T/D is not provided; full scale deflection is 100’ at the middle marker

Q

501 – ATS Route:

A

Airway – Domestic protected airspace = 4nm each side primary area and 4 nm secondary area; Domestic offshore = 50nm each side; International offshore = 50nm each side (Northers and Central Pacific regions) and 25nm each side (Japan sea and S/E Asia)

RNAV Route – M ,Y ,Z designators

Oceanic Transition Route – connects a Navaid and a fix in OCA

Transition Route – connects terminal fix of SID and airway

Direct Route – connects 2 navaids, excluding airways, OTR and RNAV routes;
published in AIP Japan

Q

542 – Course Change on Route:

A

Non-RNAV – start early turn to prevent overshoot of new course

RNAV – consider if ‘fly-by’ or ‘fly-over’ point; all enroute are ‘fly-by’

Q

612 – Altitude Restrictions on STAR:

A

STAR to approach fix only assignment does not clear for descent, only route

Q

614 – FPR:

A

FPR clears to last fix on authorized route (usually commencement point of STAR),
therefore require confirmation and clearance beyond this point

Even if route not defined beyond this point, do not hold over the STAR
commencement point

Q

682 – Descent Procedures in NPA:

A

Straight in LDG – descend to reach MDA by VDP; when established visual contact
before MDA, adjust RoD visually but do not descent below MDA until reaching VDP;
when the runway is sighted, may transition to the extension of the runway centreline

Circling Approach – When established visual contact before MAPt, establish visual flight path within Circling Area and maintain MDA until the point where adequate
descent path established to T/D; may deviate from the final approach path before
MAPt and advise ATC of intentions ie. “Right break”
