Age
Men greater or equal to 45
Women greater or equal to 55
Family History
myocardial infarction, coronary revascularization, or sudden death before the age of 55 yr in father or male first degree relative or
women before the age of 65 in mother or female first degree
Cigarette Smoking
current smoker or have quit in the last 6 months
Sedentary Lifestyle
not participating in at least 30 mins of moderate intensity physical activity on at least 3 days of the week for at least 3 months
Obesity
body mass index greater or equal to 30
waist girth greater than 102cm for men and greater than 88cm for women
hypertension
systolic blood pressure greater or equal to 140
diastolic greater or equal to 90 confirmed by measurements on at least two separate occasions OR
on antihypertensive medicine
dyslipidema
LDL greater or equal to 130
HDL less or equal to 40
or on lipid-lowering medication
HDL Greater or equal to 60 equals a positive
prediabetes
impaired fasting glucose greater or equal to 100
or impaired glucose tolerance= two hour values in oral glucose tolerance greater or equal to 140 and less than 199, confirmed measurements on two separate occasions
Signs and Symptoms
pain, discomfort or other anginal equivalent in the chest, neck, jaw, arms or other areas that may result from ischemia
shortness of breath at rest or with mild exertion
dizziness or syncope
orthopnea or paroxysmal notcturnal dyspnea
ankle edema
palpations or tachycardia
intermittent claudation
known heart murmur
unusual fatigue or shortness of breath with usual activities
ASCM Recommendations for Health Adults
minimum of 30 mins or moderate intensity aerobic physical activity 5 days/ week
or
20 mins of vigorous physical activity 3 days/week
and
perform activities that maintain or increase muscular strength and endurance a min of 2 days/week
DHHS Recommendations for Health Adults
minimum of 150 mins/week of moderate-intensity
or
75 minutes/week of vigorous-intensity
and
perform major muscle group strengthening activities on 2 or more day/week
DHHS Recommendations for Older Adults
be a physical active as abilities and conditions allow if possible follow guidelines for health adults
exercises to maintain or improve balance

60+ minutes a day of aerobic activity
should include vigorous intensity physical activity 3 days/week
muscle strengthening 3 days/week
bone-strengthening 3 days/week
