Describe the M4?
A lightweight, 5.56mm, magazine fed, gas operator, air cooled, semi-automatic or 3 round burst, hand-held, shoulder-fired weapons.
What is a malfunction?
The weapon ceasing to fire due to a stopping resulting from mechanical failure of either the weapon, magazine, or ammunition.
What is the appropriate action to clear stoppage?
Apply immediate or remedial action
What is remedial action?
The continuous effort to determine the cause for a stoppage that can not be solved with immediate action and the attempt to clear the stoppage once it has been properly identified.
What is immediate action?
Immediate action involves quickly applying a possible correction to reduce a stoppage without performing troubleshooting procedures to determine the actual cause.
