What happens post natally

A

Check baby’s blood via umbilical cord or heel prick
do Kleihauer test
Administer 500IU anti-D

In a previously sensitised woman, what do you do

A

Check anti-D levels every 2-4 weeks from booking
If levels rise, do an MCA doppler and check for foetal anaemia
if foetal anaemia, give foetal transfusion to avoid risk of haemolytic disease of fetus and newborn, and also jaundice and kernicterus
