Retest 9 - SAA Flashcards

1
Q

Describe Cart .22cal Ball T22 from firing.

A
  • The brass spun rim of the CC contains primer composition which when struck by the firing pin causes it to ignite.
  • This flame then ignites the main filling inside the brass cc.
  • The gas produced as the energetic material burns, acts upon the base of the projectile and forces it out of the cc and accelerates it down the barrel of the weapon.

Q

What are is the construction and identifying features of the Cart .50cal API-T M20 projectile?

A

AP Proj is manufactured from a:

  • Manganese molybdenum alloy
  • Has conventional boat tail design.
  • Alloy core is machined at a steeper angle at the nose than the copper alloy jacket to create a void between the two components for insertion of the incendiary component.
  • The alloy core also contains a recess in the base to encompass the tracer elements which is sealed by a closure disc

Q

How does the Cart 12.7mm AP-S NM173 incendiary composition ignite?

A
  • The proj acts on the target by transfer of kinetic energy that result from set back force which generates an air void in the RS41 Incendiary charge.
  • Once the proj penetrates the armour and/or impacts the target, the RS41 Incdy Charge is adiabatically heated to initiate thus providing fire-starting effects at the target

A
  • Cap and Integral Anvil (Berdan Type)
  • Cap and Separate Anvil (Boxer Type)
  • Rim Fire
17
Q

Which calibres use what type of primers?

A
Berdan (cap and integral anvil) :
- British 7.62mm x 51mm
Boxer (cap and separate anvil):
- British 5.56mm x 45mm
Rimfire:
- .22 Cal ammunition
18
Q

What weapon system uses .338?

A

Sniper Blaser R93 Tactical 2

19
Q

What weapon system uses .223?

A

M4A1 family

20
Q

What is the Cart .223 Swiss P Styx Action Remington 69GR not to be subject to?

A

Simming operations

21
Q

What are the Cart .308 winchester 130 grain hollow point limitations?

A

Limited to:

  • SF use in domestic and internation Counter Terrorism
  • Recovery ops where laws of armed conflict do not apply.
22
Q

How does the .308 130 grain hollow point work?

A
  • on impact pressure created in tip forces material around inside edge to expand outwards increasing the axial diameter of the proj
  • limits wound depth causing more tissue damage
23
Q

.338 LM Swiss P Ball and AP Propellant?

A

N165 single based

24
Q

What is the Tracer Burning Distance for 5.56mm M856

A

153m to 875m

25
Q

What is the Tracer Burning Distance for 7.62mm M62?

A

140m to 775m

26
Q

How is the LAPUA subsonic designed for subsonic flight and reduced accoustic signature?

A

Design consists of a:

  • longer & heavier bullet than the typical 7.62 proj
  • longer boat tail which
  • combined with grooves into the main body of the proj,
  • reduces the drag and hence the acoustic signature to a minimum, while at the same time increasing the ballistic performance and accuracy.
