Who should test for COVID-19 when it is suspected?
A
- Those at highest risk of becoming seriouslly ill with COVID - take rapid lateral flow as soon as possible. (if negative, take 3 over 3 days)
- Healthcare workers working with immunocompromised

Q
What treatments can be given in the community for those at highest risk from COVID-19 with confirmed infection? (not needing acute admission)
A
- antiviral (oral) / antibody treatments (IV) - should be offered within 5 days
- NHS england should contact pt within 24hrs of positive result / or patient contact the GP/111/ CDMU to arrange urgent referal to local COVID-19 medicinces delivery unit

What advice should be given to those testing postive who are not at highest risk and no acute admission needed?

- try to stay at home and avoid contact with others for 5 days after test was taken.
- avoid higher risk people for 10 days after test was taken.
Child: try to stay at home for 3 days after test was taken
Reassure most symptoms resolve within 12 weeks

Which patients are higher risk and eligible for the community treatments?
A
- Down’s syndrome/ chromosomal disorders affecting immunity
- Solid organ cancer
- Haem diseases (leukaemia, lymphoma, sickle cell, myeloma, MDS) / stem cell transplant
- renal disease (CKD 4 or 5, transplant)
- liver disease (cirrhosis, transplant)
- Other transplant patients
- Immune inflammatory diseases incl immunotherapy, biologics, JAK, steroids, active disease)
- HIV, AIDS
- Neurological (MS, MND, MG, huntingtons)

Q
What are the contraindications to COVID-19 vaccine?
A
- confirmed anaphylaxis - try an alternative and observe for 30mins/ speciliast advice
- thrombosis thrombocytopenia syndrome with Janssen (do not given Janssen)
- If acutely unwell - postpone until fully recovered
- suspected covid-19- should be deferred until 4 weeks from illness started/positive test

- older age
