Reproduction-Male Flashcards
What is sex differentiation?
Development of eiether Wolffian ducts into male
Or Mullerian ducts into females reproduction structures
What does the male reproduction tract?
Epididymis
Ductus deferens or vas deference
Ejaculatory duct
Urethra
What is epididymis?
Site of sperm cell maturation
Where does the vas deference located?
Passes from the epididymis into abdominal tract
What is the purpose of the ejaculatory tract?
Joins vas deference and seminal vessicle
What is semen?
It’s a mixture of secretions from many glands occurring in males
Where does semester come from?
Seminal vessicles
Prostate gland
Cowpers glands
Fluids by testis and epididymis
How is Sperm cell developed?
Seminferious tubules produce spermatozoa
And the the spertatogonia from primary spermatocytes through mitosis
The primary spermayocytes divide to form secondary spermatocytes through meiosis and will further divide into spermatids which develop an acrosome and flagellum
What is the purpose of the sertoli cells?
They nourish sperm cells and form a blood testis barrier and produce hormones
What is the speematoginia?
The cells from which sperm cells arise and they divide by mitosis
What cells make up the Tubuli seminferi?
Peritubular
Sertoli
Germ
What makes up interstitium?
Leydig cells
Connective tissue
What is the function of the Leydig cells?
Synthesis of testosterone, progesterone and other steroids
What does the hypothalamus release?
GnRH
LH
FSH
What does LH produce?
Testosterone
