Capillary Dynamics Flashcards
When is diffusion most rapid?
When ions and molecules involved are small
Distance is short
And concentration gradient is large
What is filtration?
The removal of salutes from a solution flowing across a porous membrane
What is filtration driven by?
A hydrostatic pressure (Capillary hydrostatic pressure)
(Push of water from a higher concentration to a lower concentration) area
How does reabsorption occur?
Occurs through osmosis
What does it mean a solutions concentration is higher?
It means that osmotic pressure is quite great
What is the blood colloid osmotic pressure?
When capillary walls create pressure due to the suspended blood proteins that are too large to cross cap walls
(Precents osmosis)
