Blood Vessel and Structure Flashcards
What are the type if blood vessels?
Arteries
Arerioles
Capillaries
Venules
Veins
What are venules?
Collect blood from capillaries
What are capillaries?
They are the smallest blood vessels and they hold exchange between blood and interstitial fluid
What are the layers of the Vessel walls?
Tunica interna
Tunica Media
Tunica Externa
What is the Tunica interna?
The innermost layer and contains squamous epithelium which has a smooth surface to prevent friction and also with walls thicker than 1mm then it contains a subendothelial layer which supports the endothelialium
What does the subendothelial layer consist of?
Loose elastic tissue and a basement membrane
What is the Tunica media?
The middle layer
It is made up of smooth concentric tissue in the elastic tissue and the smooth muscle is regulated by sympathetic vasomotor fibers of the autonomic system
What is the Tunica externa?
The outermost layer, which has loosely woven Collagen fibers which support, protect and reinforce the vessel to its surrounding structures
