Struma Ovarii
-special name for teratoma that has mostly thyroid tissue that can cause thyroid disease
Dysgerminomna
- associated with streak ovaries due to Turners
- seminoma in men (due to streak gonads in Klinefelters)
- sensitive to radiation
Meigs Syndrome
- refers to combo of fibroma (sex cord stromal tumor), ascites, and pleural effusion
- don’t confuse with deadly papillary serous tumor
Granulosa Cell Tumor
- estrogen producing tumor
- early puberty, mess up period cycle
- can cause endometrial hyperplasia and cancer
- call-exner bodies (think who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters!)
Sertoli Leydig Cell Tumor
- androgen producing tumor
- can affect fetus and cause virulization of female fetus in affected mother
Complete Mole
- completely from dad
- tumor of placental trophoblastic tissue
- 46 chromosomes
- more likely to have choriocarcinoma
Partial Mole
- normal egg fertilized by two sperm
- part fetus
- snow storm on US
- elevated bHCG
- may be grape like structures coming out of vagina
- edematous chorionic villi
- check bHCG to make sure it goes down (if still up means choriocarcinoma)
- 69 chromosomes
Choriocarcinoma is tumor of?
-placenta
