RENAL TUBULAR ACODOSIS Flashcards
1
Q
renal tubular acidosis type II
A
- due to diminished capacity of the proximal tubule to reabsorb bicarbonate
- appearance of HBO3 in the urine
- low plasma HCO3 and acidic urine
- their is a significant amount of fixed acid lost in the urine
- FANCONI SYNDROME a defect in the proximal tubular transport process and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
2
Q
renal tubular acidosis type I
A
- due to inability of the distal nephron to secrete and excrete fixed acid
- inability to form an acid urine
- urine pH > 5.5 - 6
- impairment transport of H+ and HCO3
- metabolic acidosis
