Common indication: BPH
Key side effects: oropharyngeal irritation (dutasteride only), decreased libido, impotence
Other Notes: swallow whole (dutasteride only); women who are pregnant or of child-bearing age should not touch

Pharmacologic category: anticholinergic, urinary antispasmodic agent

Other Notes: CI in uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma
Azo Urinary Pain Relief, Pyridium
Phenazopyridine (PO)
Pharmacologic category: urinary analgesic
Common indication: symptomatic relief of dysuria
Key side effects: stomach cramps, headache, dizziness
Other notes: may change bodily fluids red/orange
Calcium gluconate (IV)
Pharmacologic category: electrolyte supplement
Common indication: hypocalcemia
Key side effects: hypercalcemia, arrhythmia
Other notes: precipitation occurs with phosphate; do not administer IM; vesicant
Magnesium sulfate (IV, IM)
Pharmacologic category: electrolyte supplement
Common indication: hypomagnesemia, pre-eclampsia
Key side effects: cardiac arrest (with rapid undiluted IV infusion)
Other Notes: ISMP-high alert medication: dilute before infusion
PO: K-Tab, Klor-Con, Micro-K
Potassium chloride (PO, IV)
Pharmacologic category: electrolyte supplement
Common indication: hypokalemia
Key side effects (IV): hyperkalemia, cardiac arrest with rapid undiluted infusion
Key side effects (PO): hyperkalemia, abdominal discomfort/pain, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting
Other Notes: ISMP-high alert medication; dilute before infusion; do not administer IV push; vesicant; tablets with wax coating may appear in stool
Potassium phosphate (IV)
Pharmacologic category: electrolyte supplement
Common indication: hypokalemia
Key side effects: hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, cardiac arrest (with rapid undiluted IV infusion)
Other Notes: ISMP-high alert medication; must dilute before infusion; precipitation occurs with calcium; vesicant
Ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) (PO)
Pharmacologic category: fat-soluble vitamin
Common indication: dietary supplement, hypoparathyroidism
Key side effects: hypervitaminosis D
Other Notes: CI with hypercalcemia
