What is fertility treatment?
Artificial treatment used to help with conception when it cannot be done naturally
What is IVF?
-in vitro fertilisation
Sperm and egg I’ll put in a tube until hopefully embryo formed which is then transferred into a woman’s womb
What is AID?
Artificial insemination by donor – sperm donor used
What is AIH?
Artificial insemination by husband- span of husband inserted into the embryo if there is a problem with conceiving
What is surrogacy?
A woman carrying an embryo for a woman unable to do it herself
Why do some Christians encourage fertility treatment?
Because they bring happiness to people who would otherwise not be able to have children – “love thy neighbour as you love yourself”
Why do you some christians believe that fertility treatment is wrong?
Sanctity of life – God chooses whether people have babies or not
What happens in Samuel 1:5 (against fertility treatment)?
God will not allow Hannah to have a baby until he decides it’s the right time “Lord closed her womb”
What does God made humans in his own image suggest about fertility treatment?
Fertility treatment goes against plan, God only creates

Why are Roman Catholics against fertility treatment?
E.g. IVF because it can produce spare embryos and then be thrown away goes against sanctity of life

The direct use of something or someone to create an identical replica

What are eugenics?
Choosing characteristics of a foetus in order to develop desired traits using cloning
