A spokesperson who delivers gods message to the community
Messages of the prophets can be summarised in three main ideas. What are these?
MMM
Monotheism - there is only one God and that is the God of Isreal
Morality - be honest, be just and be compassionate or you will be punished
Messianism - the messiah will come and establish the Kingdom of God on this earth
How did the Old Testament Prophets teach?
Through Actions, Visions and Words
What is a Contemporary Prophet?
A contemporary prophet is someone who speaks out about the injustices that they see and work towards fixing it
What is the Kingdom of God?
The kingdom of God is a way to live your life as interpreted by the teachings of the Old Testament
What is a parable?
A parable is a story about a something that happens in everyday life which points out a moral truth
What is social justice?
Social Justice is about eradicating the injustices that are responsible for people not having a fair go
What does the Carijn method of social justice ask us to do?
It asks us to see judge and act on the wrongdoings we see
What are the principles of Catholic Social Teaching?
The seven principles of Catholic Teachings are Life and Dignity, Call to family, Community and Participation, Right and Responsibility, Options for the Poor, the rights of workers, solidarity and care for gods creation
