In the division of Berlin which side was which?
West Germany was controlled by America, Britain and France whilst East Germany was controlled by the Soviet Union (Russia)
What was Checkpoint Charlie?
The main gate into East Berlin was called Charlie as it was Checkpoint C. It was the epicentre of the Cold War and so the allies wanted it to stay open.
What was down to reinforce the security of the German-German border?
All houses near the border were taken down. Every escape that was found out about was searched in detail and then extra measures were added to the wall to prevent the same feat. For example 2 men zip lined over the wall between 2 towers so extra towers were added to leave no place in the dark.
