regulation of and by PP1 (PP1c) Flashcards
PP1
diff from PP2A, has catalytic subunit that does a lot of the work, known as PP1c.
PP1c does what
-Pi from ser/thr of m-GP-a, PhK’s apha and beta subunits which inactivates them and -Pi’s GS which activates it (breakdown and synthesis opposite)
PP1c activation
only active when bound to another SU which is Gm subunit (muscle), important bc it is what you use to bind pp1c to actual glycogen particle.
and Liver pp1c only active when bound to glycogen via GL subunit
PP1c reg differently in muscle and liver
via Gm (glycogen binding SU to pp1c) or GL subunit of PP1 complex… difference is GL not subject to +/-Pi control but Gm is.S
Gm binds to which part of PP1C’s structure
Gm binds in a groove, parallel to B-14
