6PGDH: rxn 3 Flashcards
1
Q
structure of 6PGDH structure
A
homodimeric, monomers act independently
full activity when 1 SU does catalysis, other holds unreacted SU that is acting as a “pseudo-allosteric” activator
2
Q
what to know baout mech
A
beta-hydroxy acid to beta-keto acid.. similar in concept to G6PDH… have hydride transfer, stereospecific…
but mostly interested here:
Lys is a proton source, then as a proton remover.
3
Q
Why does b-hydroxy acid to b-keto acid occur
A
you are doing a decarboxylation, so need an e- sink so creating an e- sink through redox reaction to create NADPH.
Tautomerization is found in keto-enol tautomerization.
