Reflection
Looking back on something and analyzing it
Webster Dictionary: “a thought, idea, or opinion formed or a remark made as a result of meditation”
Reflective journal
Describing lessons, impressions, likes/dislikes, and reassessments of situation/experience/performance
It is not a descriptive log or play by play, a primary venting tool, or grading mechanism
Used by multiple professionals, hard work for some
Provides an outlet for feelings, cognitive reflection, and development
Process of reflection
- Awareness of feelings and thoughts (+/-) aka trigger event
- Critical analysis of feelings, thoughts, and knowledge
- New perspective
