Gait Terminology (9/11c Lab) Flashcards
Gait cycle (gait)
the fundamental unit of walking
time from heel strike to when the same foot makes contact with the ground again
Stride length (gait)
distance between two successive heel contacts of the same foot
Step length (gait)
distance between two successive heel contacts of two different feet
Foot angle (gait)
amount of “toe out”
angle between line of body progression and long axis of foot
avg is 5-7 degrees
Cadence (gait)
number of steps per minute

phase of gait cycle from right heel strike to right toe off
Swing phase (gait)
