REDOX I AND REDOX II Flashcards

1
Q

How do you set up an electrochemical cell?

A

1) Obtain the metals and clean them.

2) Wash the netals’ surface with propanine to remove the grease.

3) Place each metal into a solution containing the ion of the same metal.

4) Make a salt bridge from filter paper soaked in saturated KNO3. This should be linking the 2 beakers and the salt bridge should be submerged in each beaker.

5) Connect the electrodes with wires, crocodile clips, and a voltmeter. A reading will appear if it’s set up correctly.
