To replace staff who have left or been promoted

What is job analysis
A study of the tasks and activities to be carried out by the new employee
What is job description
This describes the main duties and responsibilities of the job
What is job requirement
The qualifications and qualities necessary to perform the job (e.g. educational requirements, experience needed)
What is the internal recruitment and what are the advantages and disadvantages
Internal is recruitment done in the company such as promotion
This can save money and the workers will know the firm
This can also be bad as new ideas may not be brought in. Other workers may be demotivated as they did not get the promotion.
What is the external recruitment and what are the advantages and disadvantages
External is recruiting someone who is new to the company and has not previously worked at the company
New ideas can be brought in. Workers are more likely to meet the job specification
Expensive to advertise the job
Demotivating for other employees

Have more employees during busy periods
Flexible working hours
Less expensive than hiring full-time employees
Workers are less trained than full-time employees

What is the difference between dismissal and redundancy
Dismissal is when a worker is told to leave due to bad behaviour
Redundancy is when a worker is told to leave because the business does need a worker for that job anymore
How is redundancy decided in business
Workers with good skill remain
Some workers may volunteer to leave as they have already planned to do so
If the worker has worked for a long period of time, they are able to stay
Performance of the employee
