Derelict land
A
- Union Grove in the Western zone of the inner city was the site of an orphanage for many years in the 1800s
- The building was then turned into a care home for a brief time
- It then lay empty for many years
- It was then turned into luxury apartments by Bancon Homes
- They were completed in 2011
- 2 modern townhouses were added to the site in 2018
- Briefly after this the Chapel on the site was converted into 2 homes
- The final additions to the site took place in 2023 when 2 blocks of low-rise flats were added

Shortage of Student accommodation
A
- In the past years there has not been enough student housing for the amount of people studying in Aberdeen
- So in recent years Student Housing Organisations such as Every Student and Unite Student built new student accommodation in the inner-city
- One of the student accommodation is at Causeway end and it provides luxury housing
- It offers en-suite studio rooms and ensuite rooms with communal areas
- It is a listed building as it was a school during the Victorian period
- Spring Gardens is another student accommodation in the inner-city which is purpose-built for those on a stricter budget

- It was built in collaboration with Aberdeen City Council, Sport Aberdeen and Aberdeen University
- It’s a sport centre with state of the art training facilities such as 2 swimming pools, indoor football pitches, gyms, badminton and squash courts, indoor and outdoor training facilities
