Improvement in water supply
A
- SODIS was discovered by researchers several years ago
- It uses UV light and heat to kill parasite viruses and bacteria in water. Clear PET bottles are left in direct sunlight for around 6 hours
- Once the water has been exposed to high levels of UV light it is safe to drink
- Water ATMs have been introduced through all 13 neighbourhoods in Kibera
- The ATMs serve around 100 households per day and provide clean, cheap and safe drinking water

Improvement in sanitation
A
- Abolition blocks connected to proper sweares have been built in Kibera
- This has been done to try to stop the use of flying toilets
- During the rainy season in Kibera these plastic bags filled with human feacies often get swept towards peoples homes
- Not only is this unpleasant it can contaminate the environment with cholera
- These diseases spread round tightly packed communities especially those with inadequate hand-washing facilities
- These abolition blocks have proven to prevent the spread of diseases

Improvement in education
A
- An architectural firm has converted a pop up pavilion into a school in Kibera
- The Kenyan Government has built more schools such as the Olympic Primary School. This school is supported by international charities
- CFK Africa is a charity that works with pregnant girls to help them stay in school
- As often in Kibera when a girl becomes pregnant they can no longer attend school so will have a poor education
- But this charity works with the school to help keep the student in school

Improvement in healthcare
A
- In 2013 The Kibera South Health Centre was built by NGO Medicins San-Frontiers
- This free clinic provides healthcare for people suffering with common diseases and health conditions such as HIV and diabetes
- It also provides maternal healthcare and family planning
- As well other health clinics have been built from shipping containers so there can be more healthcare clinics in Kibera
