1) person 1 sits upright on chair with forearm of dominant arm placed across table with hand slightly over the edge
2) person 2 holds meter ruler vertically upright with 0 mark between thumb and first finger of person 1s hand
3) person 2 randomly drops ruler and person 1 catches it between thumb and finger as quickly as possible
4) person 2 records distance that ruler has dropped (by using measurement level with top of person 1s finger)
5) repeat steps 1-4 at least 9 more times and calculate mean distance
6) repeat investigation changing independent variable e.g caffeine, distractions (music), non dominant hand, person doing test etc
7) use conversion time to calculate and compare reaction times
