Rates of Reaction Flashcards
Activation energy
Certain amount of energy needed to carry out the reaction
effervescence
s the formation of gas bubbles in a liquid by a chemical reaction.
Solute in chemistry ?
The substance that is dissolved in a solution.
what is a solvent ?
An aqueous solution is a solution in which the solvent is water.
The solution in chemistry .
A simple solution is basically two substances that are evenly mixed together. One of them is called the solute and the other is the solvent. A solute is the substance to be dissolved (sugar). The solvent is the one doing the dissolving (water)
Does a catalyst change in a rate of reaction
NO
what is the rate of a chemical reaction
It is the amount of collection that occur per second.
Catalysts how do they work.
Catalysts increase the rate by providing a different pathway for the chemical reaction that has a lower activation energy.
What is a reaction profile diagram
The diagram show the energy put into a reaction, in the case above less energy is put in, due to the use of a catalyst.
Exothermic reaction
Like a match energy is released in the form of heat, this is a negative number for the exothermic reaction.
What is Activation energy
Activation energy is the minimum amount of energy needed to make a reaction happen.
What happens if you increase the concentration of the solution .
If the concentration is increased the rate of reaction will speed up due to the particles being close together.
What is the rate of reaction?
The rate of reaction is is 1/2 time to take the reaction therefore the more dirt you add to water the quicker the reaction happens
Effervescent
(of a liquid) giving off bubbles; fizzy.
