Ionic Bonding ?
The atom donates just 1 electron to form a chemical bond, so they swap charges and bond. Ionic bond is a strong electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions
Covalent Bonding ?
involves the sharing of electron pairs between atoms
What is electrostatic attraction ?
This is positive and negative electrical charges attract each other with a force called electrostatic attraction.
What are the four groups of ions whos Formula you just have to learn ?
Zinc ZN+2, copper Cu+2 or +, iron Fe+2 or Fe+3, silver Ag+
Ammonium
NH4+
Hydroxide
OH-
Nitrate
NO3-
Sulfate
SO42-
Describe the covalent bonding in the occurs in water ?
In a molecule of water oxygen has 8 electrons 6 of those are in the in the valence shell. when using the extra electron from hydrogen, it forms 8 in its outer shell as well as forming the outer shells of the 2 hydrogen atoms.
Heterogeneous & homogeneous are
If the composition is uniform throughout it is homogeneous is a mixture.
