Quiz #8 Flashcards
why do cells divide
for growth, reproduction of organisms, healing wounds, and replacing damaged or worn out cells
what is the relationship between chromatins, chromosomes, and sister chromatids
chromatins condenses to form chromosomes and chromosomes split into identical parts called sister chromatids
what happens in the interphase
there are 3 parts. G1, s, G2. in G1, it is where cells do most of their growing. in s (synthesis), dna is copied and in G2, preparation for mitosis where the required organelled for mitosis phase are produced
what happens in mitosis
there are 4 parts, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase. in prophase nucleus breaks (nuclear membrane fades away), spindle forms, sister chromatids become visible. in metaphase sister chromatids connect at the middle of cell, in anaphase sister cells split up and in telophase the nucleus is formed again and the spindle fades away
