Quasi-experiments Flashcards
Quasi-experiments/quasi-independent variable
Researcher does not have full experimental control. Usually not over the independent variable. (good external validity)
Interrupted time design
Participants are measured repeatedly on the dependent variable before during and after a specific interruption caused by some external event.
Wait-list design
All participants plan to receive treatment but are randomly assigned to do so at different times. Against selection effects.
Small N design
Grouped participants
Data are represented as group average
Lot of information from just a few cases.
Stable-baseline design
Observing behaviour for an extended period before beginning the treatment.
Multiple basesline design
Recording multiple baseline behaviours over period of time.
Multiple basesline design
Recording multiple baseline behaviours over period of time.
Reversal design
Taking treatment away for a while to see if the problem behaviour returns.
