QRH - Immediate Action Items Flashcards
What is the purpose of Immediate Action Items (IAI)?
To quickly stabilize a non-normal situation
All immediate action items are not considered “complete” until…
They are verified via the IMMEDIATE ACTIONS tab in the QRH
What immediate action Items have steps which must be accomplished from memory?
- BRAKING LOSS/ASYMMETRY
- CABIN ALT Msg or EMERGENCY DESCENT PROCEDURE
- DOUBLE-ENGINE FAILURE
- SMOKE/FUMES
- STAB TRIM RUNAWAY
Braking Loss/Asymmetry
- Wheel brakes…………Release momentarily
- PM will select ANTI-SKID to OFF
- Wheel Brakes………..Re-apply as required
- Reverse Thrust………Apply maximum until stopping assured
* 5. Immediate Action Items complete
- = not a red item
CABIN ALT Msg or EMERGENCY DESCENT PROCEDURE
- Oxygen Masks…………………………Don and 100%
- Crew Communication………………Establish
- Captain assumes PF duties
* 4. PASS SIGNS……………………………ON
* 5. ATC………………………………………..Declare Emergency and Advise of Descent
* 6. Autopilot…………………………………Recommended
* 7. Altitude Preselector…………………Set to 10,000 feet or Lowest Safe Altitude
* 8. SPEED Mode…………………………..Select
* 9. Thrust Lever……………………………IDLE
* 10. FLIGHT SPOILER Lever……………MAX Deploy
* 11. Immediate Action Items complete, go to page 5-1

Is a turn required in the emergency descent procedure?
Nope.
The autopilot should __________ to accomplish the emergency descent.
Remain engaged
If cabin pressure is verified to be uncontrollable and the structural integrity is in doubt, what should we do?
Maintain a speed at or below the speed at which the malfunction occurred
AND
Avoid high maneuvering loads
DOUBLE-ENGINE FAILURE
- CONT IGNITION………………………….…..ON
- Airspeed…………………………………………240 Minimum
*3. Engine Instruments……………………….Monitor N1, N2, ITT
IF ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN DOWN:

*5. ADG manual deploy handle……………PULL
WHEN ADG POWER ESTABLISHED
*6. STAB TRIM CH 2……………………………ENGAGE
MAINTAIN AIRSPEED UNTIL READY TO RESTART ENGINES. FAILURE TO MAINTAIN 4% N2 MAY PRECLUDE A SUCCESSFUL RELIGHT. IF REQUIRED, INCREASE AIRSPEED TO MAINTAIN AT LEAST 4% N2 INDICATION.
- Immediate action Items complete, assign PF, go to page 2-1
- = not a red item
Who will perform the PF duties during a DOUBLE ENGINE FAILURE?
The captain
Why shouldn’t the First Officer fly, unless the Captain is incapacitated, during a DOUBLE ENGINE FAILURE?
Because his PFD and MFD will be inoperative
What will happen to the First Officer’s PFD and MFD during a DOUBLE ENGINE FAILURE?
They will become inoperative
When will the Captain assume PF duties during a DOUBLE-ENGINE FAILURE?
After “CONTINUOUS IGNITION” is selected “ON.”
