E.coli
klebsiella

symptoms?
A
same as UTI
but also LOIN PAIN , FEVER AND POTENTIALLY VOMITING
L/R UQ pain

Tests?
A
urine dipstick
urine for culture and microorganisations
inflammatory markers are raised
elevated WBC

when to admit to hospital?
A
vomiting haemuturia severe pain sepsis under 3 months anuria/oligouria dehydration

what would indicate sepsis?
A
tachycardia
tachyponea
hypertension

treatment
A
trimethoprim co-omoxiclav ciproflaxicin bed rest pain relief fluids

what is sterile pyuria?
A
elevated WCC
symptoms present
no sign of bacterial growth

Q
ciprofloxacin what is the dose and how frequent?
A
500 mg of oral ciprofloxacin (Cipro) twice per day for seven days
