What does IV and DV mean and what do they do??
Independent variable manipulated or varied in someway by experimenter
and dependent variable - the property that’s measured in research, is affected by the IV

What does random sample mean?
A sampling procedure where every member of pop has equal chance of being selected

A smaller number of individuals from the pop to be participants in our research and represent the pop
What is psychology?
Psychology is the study of the mind- thoughts feelings and behaviors
What is trephination?
A surgical intervention where a hole is drilled, incised or scraped into the skull using simple surgical tools whilst a person is still awake
Why was trephination done??
Was done because a person had a blow to the head (hematoma possibly) got terrible headaches, they wanted to relieve pressure from skull

The way we think is different from our heart and feelings

Monism that they are both one system
Dualism - that mind and body are separate entities
