pseudofolliculitis barbae Flashcards

Q
How do you treat pseudofolliculitis barbae? How do you educate patients?
A
- best treatment is to stop shaving (especially close shaves with razors that have multiple blades), would prefer if they must shave to use an electric buzzer so it is not as close a shave
- if hairs get embedded, patient can use tweezer to get the DISTAL end out of the skin, but they should not pluck out the hair completely
- if they must shave with razor, do warm water soak of face before hand and use shaving creams.
- can apply topical 1% hydrocortisone after shaving
