- begin as recurrent tedner/painful inflammatory nodules and sterile abscesses
- Later develop sinus tracts (superficial sinus tracts present as double-ended comedones)

A
suppurative folliculitis with abscess formation, follicular plugging, granulation tissue, and inflammation that can involve aprocrine glands, late stages can have fibrosis
