tender and enlarged…boggy
what do you need to be careful about in acute prostattis?
dont want to massage prostate because increase risk of spread
how to diagnose acute prostatitis?
voided urine culture
what is rx for acute prostatitis?
abx
how does chronic bacterial prostatitis occur?
bladder is reservoir of bacteria and they grow and cause recurrence of symptoms
how does chronic bacterial prostatitis present?
usually no fever or chills but will have urinary symptoms like dysuria and urgency
how do you diagnose chronic bacterial prostatitis?
post massage urine culture
what is rx for chronic bacterial prostatitis?
4-6 wk course of abx
what cell is there in chronic bacterial prostatitis?
lymphocytes
what is most common form of prostatitis?
non bacterial prostatitis
what is presentation of non bacterial prostatitis?
pelvic pain with voiding dysfxn and sexual dysfxn
