Land at the nearest suitable airport if?
- A non-normal checklist directs
- Fire or smoke that continues
- Only one AC power source remains (includes engine and APU gens)
- Only one hydraulic system remains (includes the standby system)
- Any other situation determined by the flight crew to have a significant adverse effect on the safety of the flight if continued.
Approach Validation
Line selectable
Final approach course within 1 degree of published
Distance from FAF to RWY or MAPT is within 1nm
No minimum crossing altitude is infringed
Crossing altitudes within +-10 feet
Approach angle within +- 0.1 deg
Altitude at RWY or MAPT is appropriate
No other limitation that invalidates the approach
Primary rudder trim technique
Set symmetrical thrust
Balance fuel as needed
Ensure autopilot is engaged in HDG SEL and stable for at least 30 sec
Trim rudder towards low side of control wheel
A/C is properly trimmed when control wheel is level
(A slight bank indication and deflection of slip/skip indicator is ok)
Alternate rudder trim technique
As primary trim technique with the additional step
Disconnect A/P and hold wings level
Trim out any control wheel forces using aileron trim switches
Proper trim occurs when the airplane holds a constant heading and the aileron trim reading on the wheel agrees with what was seen with the A/P engaged.
Turbulence PA
Cabin crew and passengers be seated, fasten seatbelts.
Seatbelt sign on
