What is Du’a prayer?
A private prayer in which Muslims bring their concerns to Allah.
What does du’a mean?
Asking, in du’a prayers, a Muslim will bring their special concerns to Allah.
What may du’a prayers include?
- Thanksgiving to Allah
- Asking for forgiveness
- Requests for his help.
What is a Muslim doing by carrying out du’a prayer?
Seeking Allah’s guidance as he tells them to. They are showing faith in Allah’s closeness and immediacy to them.
How and when do du’a prayers occur?
Muslims may choose to say du’a prayers in their own language while seated directly after finishing Salah, or they may choose to recite other Arabic prayers. Can be said at any time of the day.
What may du’a prayers include the use of?
Prayer beads
What are prayer beads?
They are passed between the believers thumb and forefinger, each set has 33 or 99. Used to recite the 99 names of Allah or to repeat phrases that glorify Allah.
Why do many Muslims disagree with the use of prayer beads?
Because the prophet Muhammad did not use them. Instead some Muslims will use their fingers to count recitations during their personal prayers.
