What was the first thing Allah created?
Angels, from Nur - meaning divine light.
What is the role of angels?
- To carry out the will of Allah (they have no free will)
- Praise Allah and are completely obedient to him, so free of sin
- Immortal + have no physical needs, so constantly able to serve Allah
Why are angels there? (according to Muslims)
Muslims believe the angels are there to help them and they are how Allah communicates with his human messengers on Earth.
What do angels record about humans?
Everything they do and say, ready for the Day of Judgement.
What do angels do on the Day of Judgement?
Welcome into heaven all those who have been obedient to Allah. (disobedient ones will be thrown into hell)
In order to do the will of Allah, angels sometimes take on human forms. Give an example of this.

Who is Jibra’il?
The chief angel, brought Allah’s message to Muhammad and all the other prophets.
Who is Izra’il?
Known as the angel of death and is responsible for the ending of each person’s life by taking their final breath.
Who is Israfil?
The angel of the Last Judgement and he will blow the trumpet to announce the Day of Resurrection.
Who is Mika’il?
(Named once in the Qur’an) Is seen as the guardian of heaven and the bringer of thunder, who rewards the righteous.
What do the honorable scribes do?
These angels are responsible for recording the deeds of humans, both the good and bad.

2 recording angels (record every word and action of a person ready for Judgement).
