How does climate effect agriculture in the Paris Basin?

A

In the west there is a cool temperate oceanic climate

The influence of the sea cause cool summers 16 degrees and mild winters 5 degrees

Continental climate is drier- 700 mm of conventional rain falls in summer

The hot sunny summers are perfect for wheat growing and viticulture

The I’ll de France region is called the bread basket of europe, one of European top grain producing regions

The regions fertile limonene Soils and large flat expanses of land mean farms are large( 400) hectares , capital intensive and highly mechanised

How do markets effect the development of agriculture in the Paris Basin?

A

The local consumer market is large , the city of Paris contains over 10 million people plus 22 in entire Paris Basin

Therefore land is intensively farmed to get maximum yield from Soils

Large urban population led to development of wheat and dairying in the I’ll de France and brie region

European countries are the main internationally market, it has well developed transport links to nearby countries
