Climate Regions Flashcards
Describe a cool temperate oceanic climate
Eg. Cool temperate oceanic climate, North-west Europe
This climate Is found 40/50 north and south over the equator
Key charecteristic is its moderate climate
It has a temp range of approximately 9 degrees
Summer Temps are 15 degrees while the average winter temp is 6 degrees
Rainfall occurs throughout the year but mostly in winter with an average of 1,500 mm recorded
This may increase in mountainous areas which is known as relief rain
Rainfall may be lower in some areas due to the rain shadow created by the mountainous areas eg. The east of ireland
This climate is largely influenced by the sea
The North Atlantic Drift keeps winters mild and summers cool
Influenced by the warm prevailing south westerly winds
Frontal depressions bring changeable weather
Anti-cyclonic weather conditions bring dry weather and warm temperatures
