PRESSURIZATION/OXYGEN Flashcards
Above what cabin altitude will you always have force flow of oxygen?
35,000 feet cabin altitude.
How do you manually set the pressurization landing altitude?
By selecting the MAN on the LNDG ALT (outer knob), and rotating the inner knob (DN/UP) to select the desired landing altitude.
**normally it is selected to FMS1 which automatically enters the landing altitude for you (magenta) when the destination is entered in the flight plan.
Where can you find pressurization information in the cockpit?
EICAS
SUMRY synoptic page
ECS synoptic page
How do you know whether the pressurization landing altitude was set manually or by FMS input?
MANUALLY: Landing altitude is displayed in Cyan (Blue).
FMS: Landing altitude is displayed in Magenta.
How many outflow valves are installed?
1
**With 2 motors, one for manual mode and one for automatic mode.
In Auto mode what controls the outflow valve?
IASC.
Integrated Air System Computer
What is the heart of the aircraft oxygen system?
EPAV = Electro Peumatic Actuating Valve.
You must warm cabin to ______ before testing O2 system.
15 C
FCOM 2 (08-01-17)
What does the pre pressurization mode hold the cabin to?
300 feet below departure elevation.
Is there a return mode for the pressurization?
YES. holds departure information in case of return to 6000 feet or 10 minutes after departure.
How many safety valves does the pressurization system have?
2
1 Negative Pressure Relief
1 Overpressure
At what cabin altitude will you normally get an amber caution CABIN ALT CAS message?
8500’ cabin altitude.
At what cabin altitude will you normally get a red warning CABIN ALT CAS message?
9400 feet cabin alt.
If you press the DITCHING switch, what 3 things happen?
- Depressurizes the cabin
- Shuts of ECS
- Maintains the Outflow valve (OFV) Closed
(Inhibited abobe 15,000FT and NOT available in manual mode) **To close the OFV in manual mode, turn the MAN RATE knob to max down.
Does the ditching switch work at all altitudes?
NO. The sequence is deactivate above 15,000 feet.
Pressing the EMER DPRESS button does what?
IN AUTO: Climbs the cabin at 2500 fpm to 14,000 feet +/- 100 feet
MANUAL MODE: Climbs the cabin at 3000 fpm to 14,500 feet +/- 500 feet
Below what altitude can the RAM AIR valve be used to ventilate the cabin if trim and pack air is not available?
10,000 feet.
In AUTO, the Passenger Oxygen masks deploy automatically at what cabin altitude?
14,500 +/- 500 feet cabin altitude.
Max number of passengers (including lap children) is limited to _____ .
REFERENCE AOM 9.1.1.1
Passenger Standard Loading Schedule.
Oxygen quantity in the cockpit is read in what unit of measure?
Liters (appx 5400 liters max)
Assume the Oxygen system is not topped off and you are scheduled to operate a long flight with 10 people. Where would you go to look up the O2 requirements for this flight?
QRH1 OXYGEN DURATION TABLES (S-21), also FCOM 2 (OXYGEN SYSTEM SECTION 08-01-5), FCOM 1 (Oxygen Duration Tables 05-12-10)
Where are the oxygen bottles located?
2 bottles in the LAV.
The oxygen Bottle gauge (on the bottle) is measured in what?
PSI
Max oxygen bottle pressure is:
1850 psi
