1
Q

What is the purpose of the AUX hydraulic system?

A

Provides hydraulic pressure to the lower rudder PCU when hydraulic pressure is lost to the right hydraulic system.

Q

Although the Left and right hydraulic systems are independent of each other is it possible for hydraulic fluid to migrate from one system to the other?

A

YES. in order to avoid this, set and release the parking brake by pressing on the toe brakes. If you release the parking brake without pressing the toe brakes, fluid will migrate to the left system.

Q

How long can it take to extend the flaps when using ALTN FLAPS or with only the right DCMP?

A

up to 70 seconds(LEFT hyd system). The flaps have 1 hydraulic power unit and 2 inputs. Flaps normally get powered by the RIGHT hydraulic system (20 seconds 0-30)

23
Q

What panels are the Roll spoilers/Flight Spoilers/Multi-Function Spoilers, and up to how many degrees will they deploy?

A

1,2,7,8

45 degrees

24
Q

Which panels are ground spoilers and to what max degree angle do they deploy to?

A

3,4,5,6

60 degrees

25
Q

When you pull the spoiler handle to MAX, which panels deploy?

A

1,8 (button on the top of the spoiler handle must be pressed to bring the handle out of 0)

**There are 9 DETENTED positions between 0 and MAX.

26
Q

When you pull the spoiler handle to EMER, which panels deploy?

A

1,2,7,8 ( The button on the spoiler handle must be pressed again to bring the handle from MAX to EMER)

27
Q

When the Ground spoilers deploy, do the flight spoilers also deploy?

A

Yes. All 8 panels deploy.

28
Q

With the GND SPOILERS switch in AUTO, the ground spoilers deploy when the thrust levers are at idle and 2 of the 3 following conditions are met:

A
  • Radio Altitude less than 7 feet
  • Weight on Wheels
  • Wheel speed greater than 16kts
29
Q

The gust lock, locks what?

A

Ailerons only

30
Q

Ailerons are locked by the gust lock lever in front of the thrust levers. How are the other control surfaces gust locked?

A

Hydraulically via the PCU’s

31
Q

In what order do you turn on the hydraulic pumps?

A

~~~
LEFT - ON
RIGHT - ON
AUX - (is tested and left OFF until the After Start Flows)
PTU - AUTO
LEFT - AUTO
RIGHT - AUTO
Caution: turning on the PTU prior to the L and R DCMPs could cause it to cavitate.
32
Q
Does the Collins RTA-4100 Weather radar have overflight protection?
A
YES. Above FL220 there is a 6000’ storm over flight protection.
33
Q
During total loss of hydraulics (manual reversion), what happens to the PCU’s?
A
They lock out so the cables connected to the PCUs allow movement of the flight controls. Ailerons EXCLUDED (they are cable driven all the time)
34
