HYDRAULICS/GEAR/BRAKES/FLIGHT CONTROLS Flashcards
What is the purpose of the AUX hydraulic system?
Provides hydraulic pressure to the lower rudder PCU when hydraulic pressure is lost to the right hydraulic system.
** a DCMP powered by the LEFT ESSENTIAL BUS and cycles between 2500-3350 psi to maintain accumulator pressure.
What holds the gear up in place?
Mechanical Uplocks.
How much hydraulic pressure do the DCMP’s put out?
2800 psi
**The DCMP’s put out only 200 psi less than the EDP’s however they move less volume than the EDP’s.
Although the Left and right hydraulic systems are independent of each other is it possible for hydraulic fluid to migrate from one system to the other?
YES. in order to avoid this, set and release the parking brake by pressing on the toe brakes. If you release the parking brake without pressing the toe brakes, fluid will migrate to the left system.
What happens at the Bottom of the AOA red band?
Stick Shaker
What happens at the top of the red AOA band?
Stick pusher activates.
What is the pressure output of the Engine Driven Pumps (EDP’s)?
3000 psi
When ROLL DISC is actuated who controls what?
LP controls spoilers
RP controls ailerons
In terms of percentage, how much roll authority do you have with the spoilers and with the ailerons?
LP RP
spoilers 60% ailerons 40%
** If you were to pull the “ROLL DISC PULL TO ACTUATE” lever on the LP’s Yoke (Split the roll system), The Captain will control spoilers and the First Officer will control ailerons.
When do the DCMP’s begin to operate automatically?
anytime the flaps are out of 0 and the switches are in auto, or low pressure is sensed.
Normally, how long does it take to extend the flaps from 0-30?
20 seconds.
How long can it take to extend the flaps when using ALTN FLAPS or with only the right DCMP?
up to 70 seconds(LEFT hyd system). The flaps have 1 hydraulic power unit and 2 inputs. Flaps normally get powered by the RIGHT hydraulic system (20 seconds 0-30)
Why is there a gate at the flaps 10 position?
to prevent inadvertent retraction of the flaps to 0 during a go around.
What powers the left DCMP?
Right Main Bus.
What powers the RIGHT DCMP?
Left Essential Bus.
When you set the park/emer brake, how many wheel brakes are activated?
All 4.
When using the PARK/EMER BRAKE , pressure is applied to ______ wheels?
all 4 wheels.
*** no anti skid protection is available and 6 applications are available.
Right System Quantity (appx)
9 quarts
How many motors power the Primary and Secondary stab trim?
2 motors, 2 channels.
FCOM2 (10-02-2, 10-02-5)
Left system Quantity (appx)
13 Quarts
Is Mach trim available in SECODARY stab trim?
NO. Only in primary.
What is the purpose of the PTU?
To aid in gear retraction if loss of pressure is sensed in the left system (LEFT engine failure or LEFT EDP not operational)
How many spoiler panels are there?
8
