Homicide and MP unit SHALL
A
- LEAD the investigation of all HOMICIDES that occur within the city of Toronto
- LEAD the investigation of all criminal acts which result in serious bodily harm or life threatening injury to a police officer while on duty
- LEAD the investigation of deaths in police custody that are not related to the discharge of a FA
- SUPPORT field officers with the investigation of suspicious deaths
- PROVIDE INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT to the coroner in the investigations of deaths in police custody

Q
OIC upon being notified of a suspicious death or possible homicide SHALL
A
- ENSURE divisional Det attend scene
- ENSURE Hom and FIS are notified
- Of death of a child under 16, ENSURE CYAC is notified
- Seek assistance of other divisions to provide response to calls for service, if required
- NOTIFY UC if on duty, OIC - TPOC
- ENSURE all officers assigned to homicide have completed notes amd 466
Scanned and attached memo book notes prior to ROD - ENSURE applicable eReports are completed and forwarded to the Coroners Office prior to Post Mortem. (Appendix B if homicide of an infant)

Q
Homicide investigation means an investigation led by Homicide into the circumstances surrounding the death where there is:
A
- Obvious or Suspected Foul Play
- Found Human Remains
- Cause of death cannot be determined
- Any other suspicious circumstance
