Precision Viticulture Flashcards
What is precision viticulture?
Data collected from vy (soil, topography, vigour, plant growth) to respond to changes plot to plot, row to row.
How does precision viticulture work?
Sensors on aircraft/tractors/harvesters collect data.
Geospatial technology- visual maps.
Variable rate technology= gg can respond to signif differences in plot/row.
What is the aim of precision viticuture?
All key interventions (pruning, irrigation, treatments, harvesting) carried out precisely to priduce best quality, high yields, reducing environmental impact and cost.
What are the advantages of precision viticulture?
-Detailed understanding of variations in vy that can affect yield and quantity.
-Tailor wide range of interventions to individual blocks/rows.
What are the disadvantages of precision viticulture?
Initial cost
Cost of equipment and trained staff.
