What does mulching do and give some examples of mulching.
A
Spreading of matter to suppress weeds.
Bark chips and straw- provide nutrients for the vines.

What are the advantages of mulching?
A
Source of nutrients and humus= promotes soil biological activity and good soil structure
No chemicals- org/bio
Reduces water evaporation from the soil

What are the disadvantages of mulching?
A
Only effective in thick layer- so need a lot
Bulky- expensive to transport and spread
Can increase vigour too much- no competition for water/nutrients
