◦ Some have genetic mutations that can lead to avermectin toxicitiy
‣ Do not have the transport protein that removes the drug from the system
‣ MDR-1 is the genetic mutation that prevents them from creating the transport protein
• P-Glycoprotein is the transport protein that is needed to remove avermectins from circulation
